How will we do it?

The idea of Blackout Art is the selected method we will use to capture a unique artwork. Blackout Art can also become “Blackout Poetry and Blackout Writing. It is a simple process by blacking out words in a text with a permanent marker, leaving behind only a few choice words to make a poem or a very short story. It can incorporate drawings and doodles ending up with a piece that is personal to the participant. 

‘Blackout art, poetry or writing’ is when a person takes a marker (usually black marker) to an already established text-like in a newspaper and starts choosing words until a poem, message or quote is formed. SOME ART MATERIALS YOU CAN USE

It’s all about deconstruction and reconstruction.  Doodles or drawing can be added to enhance the creative piece.  Randomness in choosing words is part of the fun.

The text can be anything: a page from a novel/newspaper cutting/picture or a written letter.  The artist is drawn to the selected words for personal reasons or might just like certain words.
