A note from the artist to the artists
While we quarantine and isolate in these challenging times, so many artists are publishing their work. I have heard so many people comment that they wished they were creative and could draw, paint, make music etc. In this time of isolation, this is the perfect chance for you to explore that desired creativity.
There is a thing called ‘drawing shame’! Something about drawing does become too much for some people. It can materialise as a feeling of shame, but it’s more than just feeling ashamed, it becomes fear. Fear to fail, fear to not get it right. But fail, mess up and just try it. Learn from children who draw the most amazing picture of squiggles and think they are masters of their work. If someone had a peek into my sketch book I might be embarrassed, but I keep trying. You are not a failure for trying! Think of it as a meditative way of self care and self soothing to help you get through each day of these extraordinary circumstances. Aspire to draw something stupid and dumb today, you may be pleasantly surprised.
Kind Regards
